This FAW, First Aid at Work Training Course is a 18 hour 3 Day training session designed to train individuals in the administration of First Aid in the Workplace. During the course you will watch DVD and Power Point Presentations and study from a manual that will teach you the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening emergencies safely and with confidence. All of our courses are conducted in a relaxed and fun atmosphere and we do not go in for "over the top Amateur Dramatics", we like to concentrate on delivering a course that is easy for students to understand so that the First Aid Information gathered will be easily absorbed.
FAW, First Aid at Work Course in Cambridge Training Structure:
- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
- The importance of preventing cross infection
- The need for recording incidents and actions
- The use of available equipment
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
- Administer CPR
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
In addition, attendees will learn how to administer first aid to a casualty with:
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints. This includes suspected spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylactic shock
- Recognize the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).

- RIDDOR
- There is also an exam at the end of the course.

The HSE are now also Recommending Annual First Aid Refresher Training to back up the HSE First Aid at Work courses and also this is to prevent "Skills Fade". We offer these courses at our training centre in Bury St Edmunds or on site for groups throughout Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk and East Anglia.
